Typical Itinerary for the British Virgin Islands
Charter itineraries vary from vessel to vessel, depending upon the
time of year, and depending on the type of cruise you book. But you can be
certain that the experienced staff at Nicholson will help you find a charter
that is perfect for you.
Now, for a real sense of what your Nicholson Yacht adventure will be like,
let us take you away to the beautiful British Virgin Islands. Away
from the cold, away from city pressures, away on an adventure...
Renowned for sheltered sailing and excellent weather all year 'round,
the seas around the British Virgin Islands are considered by many to be the
most popular cruising grounds in the world. There is something here for
everyone, from the breathtakingly beautiful anchorages, to quaint villages, sophisticated botiques, glamorous restaurant discos. Let's see how your adventure in the British Virgin
Islands might go, as seen from the deck of the 55 ft. Catamaran, MILLENNIUM:
Day 1: You set sail from Tortola for Norman Island, which was the
inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island." Who knows? Maybe
you'll find some treasure of your own as you snorkel the Caves. From here,
it's just a short hop to the Bight and one of the most spectacular sunsets
you'll ever see.
Day 2: After a scrumptious breakfast, a short sail takes you to the Indians
for a delightful snorkel or scuba dive. Following a lunch stop at Peter
Island, you head up the Sir Francis Drake Channel to Salt Island. Here you
can dive or snorkel the wreck of the RMS Rhone, made famous as one of the
settings for the film "The Deep." It also happens to be acclaimed as the
best wreck dive in the entire Caribbean.
Day 3: Your off to one of the British Virgin Island's most treasures and
recognizable place, The Baths. Huge granite boulders litter the beach along
the southern tip of Virgin Gorda, framing grottos, pools, and secret
passages. Explore on foot or by snorkel, enjoying the mystery of this
fabulous place. In the afternoon, you set sail for The North Sound. The
protected waters of this favorite playground lend themselves to every water
sport imaginable -- wind surfing, waterskiing, kayaking, and even beach
volleyball.
Day 4: You venture out into Eustatia Sound, where the Atlantic meets the
Caribbean. Crystal clear waters await you, teeming with tropical fish and
marine life, all for you to explore. Then rendezvous in the evening at The
Bitter End for a smooth, cool rum punch while you delight to the sounds of a
steel drum band.
Day 5: An adventurous sail takes you to Anegada, a flat coral atoll
completely surrounded by reef. Hundreds of ships have been wrecked on the
hazardous coral reefs surrounding Anegada, creating an underwater paradise
for diving and snorkeling. You'll be surrounded by miles of glorious
beaches, and feast on the best grilled lobster in the Caribbean.
Day 6: Tropical flowers and brightly colored villas will greet you as you
sail into Marina Cay. You'll find the diving here at Diamond Reef is some of
the best to be found anywhere, and it's perfect for a night dive off the
transom.
Day 7: Haul up the spinnaker and set sail for Jost Van Dyke, unquestionably
the Beach Bar Capital of the Islands. You anchor at Sandy Cay for lunch,
then kayak to shore to explore the island, and maybe take a dive at Green
Cay. And the nightly entertainment at Foxy's is not to be missed!
Day 8: Enjoy the sunrise over the hills of Sopers Hole and take an early
morning swim or snorkel before heading back to Tortola.
