Corporate Charters & Large Groups: Tandem Charters

If you have a large family (more than 12 people) or group of friends all wishing to travel together, you can arrange a ‘cruise in tandem.’  This means chartering two or three vessels and travelling in convoy.

Catamarans are particularly ideal for this, as they have equal cabins, each with private ensuite bathroom, usually for up to 4 couples, each wanting to pay equal shares in the charter fee. And we have a large selection of this type of yacht in nearly every cruising ground around the world.
Here is the tandem boat with us this week, “Yes Dear,” with similar accommodations to “Braveheart“.  Each are identical 58′ ‘sister ship’ catamarans accommodating 8 guests, allowing both to take a group of 16 in style.
Large sail and power yachts also offer conference rooms for corporate charters as well.
Video Conference Room aboard the 183′ ketch Panthalassa, accommodating 12 guests max.
Outside Cinema aboard the 288′ S/Y Maltese Falcon, which also accommodates 12 guests max.
The bridge deck aft seats 20 aboard the156′ M/Y Lady Joy
The 124′ schooner “Kairos” is registered as a passenger ship, so she is one of the few charter yachts able to accommodate more than 12 guests. Kairos accommodates 24 guests.  A flatscreen television in the main saloon functions for board meetings.
Yachts can race each other by day and raft up at night.
Yachts can also ‘sail in formation’ – tack together on the hour, no matter where they are – so yachts cross your bow….
Starbooooooaaaarrddd!
Yachts can put on a’ yacht hop’.  Ten or so yachts berthed together in a marina open their doors to 200 guests who travel in groups to spend ten minutes on each yacht  before moving on to the next yacht.
Yacht saloons are nicely lit at night, and the atmosphere is festive with hors d’oeuvres, fruit punch, the crew welcoming you aboard, and fresh groups of friends gathered around to talk to.
Yachts dress ship, and one puts on a Mexican party, another an Argentinian-themed party, another a Japanese sushi party, and so forth….for dinner.
Just finished an amazing tandem family charter!  Here’s a shot of the kids getting ready for Mexican theme dinner.  We had a ball, thanks, guys!  Photo courtesy of the 62′ catamaran Catsy in the BVI.
We were Japan for Around the World night at the boat show – lots of sushi and sake!  Photo courtesy of the 47′ catamaran S/Y Caribbean Dream
This not only gives you the space you require, but allows you to share the facilities of two or three yachts….
As the flotilla approached Somali they began to wonder if having John Wayne as flotilla captain was such a good idea….
Nicholson Yacht Charters can arrange excursions, menus and schedules to accommodate the whole group and really make the holiday a shared experience.
