Description:

Based in Mystic, CT for Summer 2017, but available from Maine to New York City, the 116′ Azimut (Italy) motor yacht TAIL LIGHTS was my favorite yacht at the Newport charter yacht show 2017.  Captain Steven Kemp and Sandra Murphy and Sandra’s sister Lisa Murphy and Mathew the chef are as nice and warm and welcoming as they can be. The saloon has lovely silvery silk sofas and beautiful wood floors that are modern and chic all at the same time.

The yacht sleeps ten to twelve guests in five to six staterooms. Four cabins are forward in their own compartment below, and consist of two Queen berths and Two Twin berths and are elegantly decorated in white with shiny lamps and tan throws and oval stainless steel ports and wood panelling and white carpets.  The two twins have Pullman berths as well for parties of twelve.  In addition there’s a dedicated media room that can be converted to a sixth stateroom by means of the murphy bed, and it has a private bathroom with shower for parties of twelve.  The master stateroom is located in a private compartment aft below and is the full width of the ship with port holes and King bed in white with lounge and stainless steel ports.  Orchids are found in each guest cabin, and all has modern updates.

TAIL LIGHTS’ galley is large for the size yacht, located on the main deck with windows all around.  Sandra Murphy, the stewardess, tells me that Matthew the chef is amazingly talented.  They did a brokers lunch during the show, and Matthew worked aboard the 200′ sailing yacht ROSEHEARTY whose owner employed him as his personal chef in the city….  All the crew on TAIL LIGHTS are supportive of each other and very up!  Sandra tells me they can be formal or interactive with guests, depending on what guests like.

There is no sky lounge aboard TAIL LIGHTS but the pilot house opens to an enormous fly deck up three stairs with hard top with retractable roof.  There’s a bar out there; dining table; Jacuzzi.  It’s cool.  There’s lots of shade; it’s very comfortable; it’s very nice; the bar has stools, TV; there are stairs aft to the main deck, which offers out of door dining as well.  There’s an outdoor grill on the flybridge, as well as an Oval shaped varnished dining table.

The yacht charters for $75,000 a week all year except for Christmas and New Year, when she is $85,000 a week plus expenses.  She bases in West Palm Beach, Florida during winter for cruises to the Bahamas and/or Florida, and during the summer she prefers to pick up charters in Newport, Rhode Island and sails to Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and wherever guests want. A+++!
