Built in 2010, this excellent, 172′ Amels motor yacht, APRIL, with nineteen Kiwi, South African, and English crew on rotation is available in the South of France for Summer 2020.  Refitted in 2013, she will be going into the yard again in 2019 for her ten year survey.  She is one of my favorites!

We visited the sun deck first.  All new awnings, new cushions in gray, it can be set up as an out of door cinema.  “The table comes up to make like dinner and a show,” said the Kiwi stewardess, who took me around.  “We play card games here; there is a central bar, gym equipment; doors slide across to block the wind.”  There was a huge Jacuzzi with steps up and bunny pads all around.  “The chef comes up to grill and entertain.  A dumb waiter aids the stewardess serving cocktails and dinner.  Call buttons are available throughout the yacht, giving guests more privacy.”

We walked down a flight to the captain’s bridge, where guests are welcome to visit any time.  The crew are happy to show guests how all the systems work.  With cruising speed of 12 knots and wing stations on both sides of the bridge, the yacht arrived recently from Southeast Asia, where she was based in Japan, Hong Kong, and the Maldives for a season.

A delightful bow seating area is where stewardesses serve sunset drinks, morning coffee, seating through the Corinth Canal.  We passed an exterior day head, as we walked aft to the upper aft deck, where stewardesses serve the majority of meals.  The table was beautifully set for the table scape competition; the chef was serving a vegan-themed meal for the competition, but the stewardess said, “We have a great chef; he accommodates any request.  He’s Columbian and grew up in Holland.  Four heaters are pulled up to heat the out of doors on chilly spring and fall evenings.”

We entered the gracious sky lounge with warm wood interior.  “Our Asian owners love karaoke, so we have a machine aboard.”  There was lots of seating, slight Asian accents, and a safety video, where for fun the crew act as guests, as they teach guests how to be safe aboard.

We took the stairwell down to the main deck and went forward to the master cabin, whose study makes the bedroom feel like an entire apartment.  The table folds out for snacks and meals; the dressing room has mini fridge, desk, and bookshelves.  The full beam master study is extra wide, unlike other yachts, plus there is a King size bed, Kaleidescape Apple TV and movie system plus Satellite TV.  It is an amazing master suite with bathroom with shower, products, bubble bath under windows, Amalfi-style; a circular room, it exits through the dressing room into the study.

Awe-inspiring main saloon has buffet and lounge, warm tan and tomato-colored tones, and varnished wood window treatments…..

The accommodation deck has four cabins, including one King, two Queens, and one twin that converts to a Queen.  The yacht sleeps ten.  All have beautiful bathrooms with glass showers, day and night time lighting, and the crew of fourteen are superb.  There are nineteen altogether, because several of them rotate.  The yacht offers scuba diving, two jet skis, and two six meter rigid jet diving tenders, plus wake board, water skis, surf board, and much more.
