A few years ago I inspected a beautiful yacht called AQUA LIBRA in Greece, and the owners, who are as nice as they be, told me, “If you like this vessel, you’re going to love our new AQUA LIBRA that we’ll be presenting to the charter market next year….” They were so excited to present their new yacht to the charter market, and here she is now, the 131′ Sunseeker AQUA LIBRA 131! She does not disappoint! A 2018 build, this vessel has a ‘big boat feel’ with floor to ceiling windows in the saloon that let in lots of light; dark mahogany wall paneling contrasts with white paneling, glass windows, silver candelabra. The attractive crew of eight greeted us warmly with a gorgeous display of food and chocolates; they were getting ready to prepare a broker luncheon, a three course meal…..
Captain Stavros showed me around. He is assisted by Vangelas, the chief engineer, who has been aboard since 2018. Accustomed to giving a discreet service, they take their cues from guests how much interaction is necessary; the crew make a point to adapt to each guests’ needs. We went below to the accommodation deck, where two twin guest staterooms convert to centerline King beds on request. There are two Queen guest staterooms below as well; the beds face windows in the hull, so you can see out, and each cabin has a dressing room, not often found on other yachts; Sunseeker is a British made vessel, and I love them; they are impressively designed… Each bathroom has dual sinks, chrome fixtures, cherry wood, white counter tops, wood floors; staterooms are decorated in grays and tans. They are beautiful staterooms; everything neat and clean and new.
The main deck master has a California King bed, large windows on both sides of the cabin, full beam bathroom with white marble…. glass shower, blue flower bouquets, his and her dressing rooms….
With private balconies on both sides of the upper saloon, the sky lounge is huge with enormous TV, and Stavros says their guests enjoy playing board games here, while the stewardesses (there are three) serve drinks from the pantry bar. You can get everything from coffee to champagne there; also cakes and hors d’oeuvres. The stewardesses equip it daily with all sorts of treats. The sky lounge adjoins an aft deck; there’s a private bathroom, and the decorations are pleasant with rope pillows, lots of indirect lighting, and silver art sculptures.
We went next to the sun deck, which had gray outdoor upholstery, white scrubbed teak decks, lots of shiny chrome, and Jacuzzi forward under an umbrella with bunny pads all around. There’s a bar with stools; a model sail boat full of sun lotions. Two U-shaped settees opposite the bar offer lots of comfortable seating under a hard top for shade. It was nice and cool up there, perfect for that Greek high summer sun! There was gym equipment, sun loungers aft, and shade pulls over that if guests want it.
Seating on the bow offers a romantic place to sit and sunbathe coming into port under a big shaggy umbrella, teak decks, tenders (they are stowed under the sunbathing seats); the yacht has two tenders in the garage aft, which has a beach club; the transom folds out of the hull to form a dock and stores the sports equipment and tender (one is 7 meters, an inflatable); the crew offer jet surfing, water skiing, towables, two jet skis, snorkeling gear, and much more. There are eight crew total, and the yacht is beautiful, one of my favorites.
