The beautifully maintained 70′ Burger BONAPARTE is ably commanded by French Canadians Francois and Annette and available year round out of Nassau, from where the Berry Islands, Abacos, Exumas, Bimini, and Eleuthera cruising grounds are just a short hop away. Francois has thousands of sea hours under his belt, while Annette, the chef and stewardess, is quick on her feet, always ready to take care of guests. Built in 1963, BONAPARTE has been beautifully restored in 2013 and offers elegant surroundings and soft, dimly lit, comfortable, stately accommodations. Four to seven day cruises may be taken from Nassau for $18,500 a week plus 30% APA (advance provisioning allowance) on a pro-rata basis (divide by six for less than seven day cruises.) Up to six guests are accommodated in three double-bedded cabins, including a large master. Families of four to five and/or three couples work best.
M/Y BONAPARTE, 70’ Burger
Francois Gagnon is passionate about sailing and motor boats. Raised on the shore of the St. Lawrence River near Montreal, Quebec, he has been boating since the age of 6, learning to handle boats in all kinds of weather. Francois has 40 years experience in sailing and motor boating and has developed a keen sense of what to expect on the water. A licensed captain, he displays a cool, calm and collected attitude which inspires confidence and excels in boat handling, navigation, maintenance and equipment repairs. He is a skillful planner and organizer of cruising expeditions.
After graduating from McGill University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Francois founded a successful engineering firm specializing in industrial energy efficiency. Captain Gagnon is the father of two grown children with whom he has cruised extensively in the Bahamas aboard their sailboat PERLA and families are very welcome aboard BONAPARTE, indeed! He is also aa PADI Certified Diver, master swimmer and keen spearfisherman. Fresh lobster for dinner, anyone?!
THE MATE and CHEF
Annette St. Cyr was introduced to cruising when she met Francois 12 years ago. Shortly afterwards, she embarked on a year-long sailing trip along the US East Coast to the Bahamas during which time she developed excellent skills as mate, hostess and chef. Trained as an educator for children with special needs, she was tremendously successful in her field and appreciated by parents and children alike who followed her workshop sessions.
Annette enjoys catering to guest needs and is very attentive to details. She reads non-verbal communication very well which helps her – and Francois – respond to your needs and desires before you even know about them!! Annette has a sixth sense for hospitality, always paying attention to your well-being. She enjoys cooking fabulous meals, especially desserts, which she whips up in no time, to everyone’s delight. By all means, bring your children. They will be delighted by all the ways Annette entertains them and makes them feel comfortable onboard BONAPARTE.

Day Charter Perfection: We enjoyed mimosas and a light breakfast of fresh fruit and delicious croissants on our cruise out to Rose Island. Once we were anchored, we were faced with a dilemma…. What to do?!! Snorkel, jet ski, SUP or kayak? Decisions, decisions. Or, should we just relax on the lounge chairs on the deck? Go explore the beautiful beach on the island? Fortunately Francois, along with some help from crewmate Ashton, couldn’t have been more accommodating to make sure a good time was had by all!
Come cruise with us. We want to meet you soon and show you the beautiful Bahamas!
