|Available year round in the Caribbean from St. Thomas, there’s a lot to love about the 65′ classic Feadship motor yacht, FLAME. Her spacious aft deck is a delightful place to enjoy the out of doors; her classic interior is comfortable, sweet-smelling, and cozy with mahogany trim from a bygone era; her American captain and owner, David Loerzel, is a former US Coast Guard employee, stationed in Jamaica, a highly qualified power yacht operator of yachts from 35′ to 375 feet, familiar with coastal waters from Aruba to Bermuda. Dave has a special appreciation of the cultures and low stress environment of the Caribbean. As well, FLAME operates with three crew, including a highly trained chef Gavin Kearney from New York, who features a West Indian menu and believes “food is a way to spiritually and physically nourish the soul,” and there is a dedicated stewardess as well, who’s sole job is to take care of guests comfort. Remember that during the age of sail, all yachts had luxurious accommodation and stewards and first officers. FLAME harks back to that era.
Captain David Loerzel and his wife Sue are chocolatiers! Sue, his wife, owns and operates the Belgian Chocolate Factory ashore in St. Thomas. So of course, the yacht is laden with chocolate that ends up on the guests’ pillows each night. These chocolates are made fresh each day right there in St. Thomas, and the factory offers tours… The iPod dock in the main saloon pipes music into any cabin and on deck as well, where there is a bench settee forward.
The best thing about FLAME is her charming, old-world, spacious, deck saloon. It has white, thick-pile carpets, tan arm chairs, varnished mahogany paneling, built-in television, and color-coordinated settees, throw pillows and throw rugs. It leads into a marvelous covered aft-deck, where there are six comfortable arm chairs around a long dining table, the perfect place to relax and take in the colors…..
FLAME is comfortable, stable, and economical on fuel. Her reasonable rates include fuel, food, and bar…. The yacht carries tons of sports equipment, including an 18 foot dinghy with 90 hp outboard, water skis, tube, kneeboard, and more. We love Flame’s design and features from her bygone era, 1951, when naval architects designed elegant, comfortable boats, and Flames owners through the years have all been savvy to keep her old world charm.
David is outgoing, enthusiastic, personable; he loves the out of doors…he loves chartering, and he would love it if you would join him for a cruise through the Caribbean.
