Available from New York to Maine during the Summer of 2017, the beautifully appointed, 78′ Dutch-built Jongert motor yacht GRAND CRU is truly a gem and one of my favorite, elegant motor yachts.  Operated by a crew of three, handsome young captain Johnnie Deck is assisted by an excellent and talented Chef Jessica, who is an artist – her meals are beautifully plated; each dish is a work of art, plus stewardess Jenn.  Guests are well taken care of aboard GRAND CRU in elegant surroundings. The traditional saloon has all new fabrics in red, white, and blue on top of white rugs… It’s gorgeous!  Bronze mirror portholes…  GRAND CRU is just the way a traditional yacht should be, harking back to the elegance of a bygone era!   Available for $27,500 a week plus 30% APA and minimum 6% Florida tax, GRAND CRU offers the way to check out Miami and environs by sea, or to get lost in time with a visit to historic Block Island off Newport, Rhode Island, unlike any other!

Crew Profiles:
Captain: John Deck II

John “Johnny” Deck has over 15 years experience in the maritime industry; his passion for the water started at a very young age which included sport fishing and scuba diving, and evolved into a 4 year tour of duty as a boatswain’s mate in the U.S. Coast Guard. While in the Coast Guard he served on board a 180′ buoy tender out of Kodiak, AK and a 225’ Buoy tender out of Atlantic Beach, NC. Both ships serviced aids to navigation, conducted search and rescue, and law enforcement operations. In 2004 while attending Southwestern FL College in Fort Myers, he worked at Marine Max as a Corporate Captain, conducting new boat orientations, and leading cruise club trips all over Florida, the Bahamas and Caribbean.

First Mate: Jessica Hurley

Jessica grew up on the lakes of Michigan. She loves the water and has been visiting the Virgin Islands since she was 10 years old.  A graduate of Colorado state university with a degree in biology, she combines her knowledge of biology and love of the water with her work aboard charter yachts.

Two sets of stairs forward and aft of the saloon lead to three guest cabins in two compartments below.  The master cabin is aft with white, gathered duvet, his and her bathrooms, sofa, and large bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, stall shower, and bidet…. The VIP guest Queen and Twin staterooms are located in a second private compartment forward. The Twin has an additional Pullman berth for family parties of seven.

The main saloon leads to an aft deck with beautifully set dining table on teak, and up a flight of stairs to the sun deck with two U-shaped settees facing each other under a bimini. It is gorgeous! The crew throw barbeques up there and serve drinks from its wet bar. The whole yacht is perfection!

The attractive young crew of three is well trained. Johnny Deck, the captain, worked four years in the coast guard, then as captain of a merchant ship, while Sadie, the chef from Cape Cod, worked on the well-known sailing yacht Ticonderoga…. She is pretty, young, blond…. Jessica the stewardess completes the trio.

GRAND CRU has a 23 ft. towed tender, and offers waterskiing, fishing, wakeboarding, and snorkeling. The yacht also has two mountain bikes, a drone, which the crew fly to entertain guests, and they photograph a short video of their guests’ cruises to be able to give to them at the end of the charter. For fun the sun deck has a putting green.

A full displacement yacht, the yacht consumes just 25 gallons of fuel an hour at a ruising speed of ten knots.
