Perini Navi has come out with a new, light weight, performance sloop, so unlike its motorsailors of yesteryear, the 125’ P2, built in 2006, with long narrow bow, streamlined hull, low profile coach roof, and large platform aft, from which her present French captain and racing crew can easily maneuver the boat. Indeed, P2 (aka Perseus 2) and her French captain won all the Mediterranean regattas in 2016.  You should see this yacht climb to windward.  P2’s Mylar sails and “coffee grinder winches” enable the crew to crank the sails in really tight. This yacht is a sailor’s dream! And what fun for chartering for the St. Barth’s Bucket Race, or Antigua Sailing Week, or San Tropez Classic Yacht Regatta!

Yet the yacht is comfortable for cruising as well. The yacht has a bimini-covered, center cockpit where guests can sit comfortably undisturbed at sea, or it fills in completely with cushions for sunbathing. There’s a large swim platform aft, lots of deck space with Director’s chairs forward. The master cabin is, of course, minimalist (so it can be light for racing) and modern with centerline King and terrific bathroom with two vessel sinks, made of glass. A second guest Twin is also aft with not one but two Pullmans, so your racing crew can all be accommodated.

The neat thing is P2’s pilothouse saloon. With very low profile coach roof, it barely protrudes out of the deck, so the crew has excellent visibility and can crank that main boom down, so the sail is tight…. Yet the pilot house saloon gives the modern deck saloon visibility all around as well. Guests have 360 degree views from the main saloon. It’s also located further aft than most saloons, which accounts for why only two guest staterooms are aft. The third, another Twin with Pullman, is located forward of the saloon near the galley and crew quarters…. The pilothouse saloon’s orange, leather settees contrast with the white ceiling liner, Director’s chairs, and offers a lounge to port and dining to starboard. P2 is ideal for families and couples, and for guests who like that the yacht is a great sailing yacht, which has won all manner of trophies. The French captain is assisted by an American stewardess, chef, engineer, and first mate/steward. Presently in the Caribbean, P2 is available through February 24th, 2017.  Inquire for Winter 2018.
