Operating with 13 crew from Athens, Greece, this 174′ Feadship, PEGASUS, was built in 1997 and rebuilt in 2009, but with her award for ‘Best Refit,’ her goal of three to four charters per season has exceeded six charters for the past three years running.  There are several reasons for this.

The delightful Greek crew of 13 have been aboard a long time and try to be flexible.  Many have worked with the owner for 8 to 15 years.  Young and friendly, Captain Stelios runs a happy and efficient ship and will sail at night, when circumstances permit.  Chief steward Alaa  has worked with the owner for 15 years and knows the yacht well. Chef Nick, aboard eight years, won the culinary competition in 2019 and is a trained sommelier.  He is assisted by a sous chef.

The yacht can sail with eighteen guests.  The contract is obligatory for 12 guests max., but the yacht can sleep 18, because there are 17 crew beds, yet only 13 crew, leaving five beds left over for supernumeraries and nannys.  Guests can bring a party of 18 as long as some can sign on as crew.

The yacht also has a plunge pool, scuba diving equipment, and three jet skis.  These items compete well, compared to other yachts.

Captain Stelios showed me around.  The main saloon is gracious with warm earth tones of rust, red and brown.  Centrally located seating is available for everyone on wicker furniture featuring minimalist lines.   Lamps add soft lighting.   The room is comfortable and inviting.  A spiral staircase between the dining room and living room offers easy access to the sky lounge on the bridge deck, a unique feature.  Guests do not have to go around.  Forward is the dining saloon behind a rounded glass wall with eight different table decorations.  The theme in use during my visit was a Japanese zen style.

With 32′ beam, the main deck master is not only the full width of the ship but extra wide too and modernly appointed with Japanese screen window treatments, warm tones in reds, grays and brown.  Blue marble is featured in the Brazilian bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, which was bubbling with rose petals.  A Turkish steam shower is offered as well with robes, plus separate WC and shower, walk in wardrobes, plus a baby room or changing room.

The sky lounge, wide and connected to the main saloon by spiral staircase has floor to ceiling windows, and is decorated in reds and rusts.  There is a white grand piano and beautifully coiffed stewardesses were waiting table and the bar alcove, offering us drinks as we entered.

Upper aft deck tables rise and lower for full beam dining or sectional dining.  There are no side walks, so the yacht is beamy; Stelios tells me, “Eighty guests can be accommodated here at dock only.  One flight down, the main deck aft also has long dining table plus U-shaped settee and windbreakers on three sides…..

A great place to party, the sun deck on Pegasus has a superstructure that holds an air conditioned gym plus swimming pool full of salt water.  There’s a bar, crane, lots of seating areas, and it connects to the upper aft deck via stairs. “We cover it with with a tent when the sun gets too hot in summer.,” says Stelios.  The Jacuzzi forward has semi circular seating forward and sunbathing mattresses.

The accommodation deck contains the five additional guest cabins.  It features port and starboard side VIP guest cabins, each with large Queen in brown with Japanese screens and lanterns, modern art, day and night time lighting, bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs….  Plus there are two double-bedded guest cabins, each with convertible couch with upper Pullman berth that sleep four in a pinch….  Plus a fifth guest cabin that’s a twin stateroom with upper Pullman, a triple….  The best thing about these cabins down here is they open to the garage aft  for swimming, a unique feature.  Guests can go from their cabins direct to the sea.  Or guests can go direct to their cabins from the tender after a trip ashore.  The garage area is where they house the tenders; it’s where the beach club is; PEGASUS’s garage has a bathroom with shower for rinsing off after swimming, plus there’s a table, chairs and bar for guests to sit at, while waiting for the tender to return to take them ashore.
