PISCES – Joining PISCES in January 2019, Ryan and Stephanie embark upon their second charter season in the Virgin Islands.  Welcoming us aboard in November 2019 with all manner of good things to eat, I can’t help describe some of Stephanie’s beautiful creations:  platters of antipasti, shot glasses of cold soup with basil garnish; prosciutto and Havarti platter, jugs of strawberry and mint water.  Stephanie can really cook.

She and Ryan have a great relationship also.  “Best friends,” said Stephanie, when I mentioned how restful it was to be in their company, because they obviously are so congenial with each other.  Low key, but cute, peppy and energetic, in their thirties, they wear bright blue uniforms, are cheerful – Stephanie has pretty eyes – and Stephanie says Ryan is an excellent captain.  I like these two very much.  And did I mention that Stephanie is a good cook?  She’s a natural.

The owners of PISCES ran PISCES before Ryan and Stephanie.  They love ‘enterprise.’  Genuinely warm and supportive, they own the 50’ charter catamaran SIRENA, for charter too, a beautiful vessel that would be perfect for a tandem charter with PISCES for large parties.  The owners also own a beautiful, high end, gated Plantation type house with extensive gardens and grounds in St. Thomas that is a rental as well.  If looking for a place to stay on land, please ask me to send you the link.  The house is interesting and fancy, beautifully decorated and maintained – a series of houses for six guests, each decorated with folk art.  Paths meander through gardens, connecting them, a dream house!  The owners think along the lines of land and sea packages – three days in the villa, four days on the boat.

The owners have expensive taste in fabrics, and they went all out, choosing the finest for PISCES.  New in November, 2018, these fabrics were sewn by professional upholsterers, and they make PISCES a stand-out.  Mermaid throw cushions in the saloon, lots of AC, new cushions in the cockpit.  Turquoise bedspreads with octopus cushions in the guest cabins, turn down service –towels are monogrammed – octopus towel art.  Fun!

The yacht has three Queen guest cabins, each with private ensuite bathroom with electric flushing, and AC.  A four cabin layout, the crew sleeps in the fourth cabin.

The reason why people charter yachts is to experience the romance of the sea – pinning your bathing suit to the line to dry in the trade winds with turquoise water under you while the sun sets behind you –  feeling the tug of the anchor in a gust of wind – rocking gently to sleep at night with water flowing under your keel.  In the morning waking for that pre-breakfast swim.  Your caravan moves with you from island to island; there are no taxis to catch. Although there is a 13’ tender to transport you, the custom at Soggy Dollar bar in Jost Van Dyke is to swim ashore….

There is plenty of room for six guests on the 47’ PISCES.  A good performer under sail, her 24’ beam creates lots of room for guests to spread out.  The saloon has plenty of seating for six; the dining table in the cockpit has enough room for eight to sit; bean bags are provided on the bow for everyone.

Based in St. Thomas, PISCES charters year round for $13,000 to $15,000 weekly all inclusive (rates slide according to number in party), except $16,450 weekly at Christmas and $17,300 weekly at New Year, starting on or after December 27th, 2020.
