ALTESSE – Beautifully operated, 56’ Lagoon catamaran, built in 2013, operated by spectacular crew, Stefan Hubbe and Cloe Chand, from Germany and Austria respectively – crew of two. Available year round from Tortola, for $23,000 to $27,000 weekly all inclusive for two to eight guests, except $30,500 weekly for Christmas and New Years for six guests or $32,500 weekly for seven or eight guests. St. Thomas pickups are extra at $400 each way ($800 round trip.) Based in Tortola. Summer 2020 in the Virgin Islands.
Wellness Charters – Tall, thin first mate/chef Cloe from Austria greeted us warmly wearing a uniform of blue mini skirt and white shirt and offered us cold glasses of water with blueberries when we were aboard. A yoga instructor, Cloe is happy to host a retreat type charter aboard Altesse for guests, who are into Wellness. Please inquire for further details..
Cloe and Stefan – Cloe and Stefan cater to families who like nature and diving, as Stefan the captain, Cloe’s husband, is a dive instructor. Before chartering Stefan and Cloe were world cruisers, ten years living the life at sea, when they ran out of money and needed to go back to work. Aboard Altesse since early 2019, they now have solar panels, and following the summer of 2019, they hauled yacht in Tortola, picked up their first charter, and just got a booking yesterday, so they are “very happy.”
Ashburton School of Cookery – Cloe studied cooking at Ashburton, but she was a confidant chef anyway, to be honest; she favors healthy cuisine, but can do a mean mac and cheese; she loves cooking salads, paellas, tapas, depending on what guests want; for dinner they do lobster; she loves cooking Southeast Asian cuisine. There was a beautifully decorated plate of watermelon, lime and grapes with a menu for the day positioned on the island in the main saloon when we were aboard.
Guided Meditations and Snorkling Tours – Both crew play the guitar and Stefan leads guided meditations; they also lead guests on guided snorkeling tours.
Charter Experience – Before running Altesse, Stefan and Cloe ran a smaller catamaran called Pearl. Handsome Stefan looks like a blond Novak Djokovic, the tennis player; they’re about the same age too, late 20s, early 30s. Really nice people, Stefan and Cloe have been together 12 years as a couple; they met in Bali, their special place; and Stefan just came back from Bali, where he bought the Buddha that is onboard; he did some diving courses there.
Appointments – Cabins with towel displays, products for the bathrooms, decorations of lotus flowers, a symbol for Wellness, these are beautifully decorated cabins with pristine appointments, television, and air conditioning. Cotton, floral, two-color, white and seafoam bedspreads and steps lead up to the bed which is located on level with the window in the hull with views of the ocean.
Sleeps 8 guests in 4 Cabins – Altesse offers a choice of four queen bedded guest staterooms, each with ensuite bathrooms, or three Queen bedded guest cabins plus 1 bunk bed cabin with ensuite private bathroom, if single beds are needed. The crew uses the bunk bed cabin but is happy to swap the bunk bed cabin for a Queen cabin, if single beds are needed. One queen cabin is a master stateroom.
Master Cabin – master has centerline King bed with card saying, “Happiness looks gorgeous on you.” The master stateroom has an in-cabin bathroom with stall WC closet;
Cockpit – Beautiful gold napkin holders in white with lilies on the teak table – beautiful! Lots of seating, sunbathing beds, and stairs to the fly bridge. Hanging off the stern of the vessel on the main deck aft of the cockpit is a feature found on no other yacht, the “champagne deck,” a large sunbathing area with mattress on stury platform with grip rails for feeling the power of the yacht as she sails up the Sir Francis Drake channel.
Saloon – Stefan’s Buddha is a new sculpture acquired this year; and Cloe has her herb garden; the saloon is gorgeous and modern, very Zen.
Sports Gear – 14’ tender with 70 hp outboard, tubes, three stand up paddle boards, underwater camera, two swim platforms, fishing gear, underwater video camera, kneeboard, wakeboard, stern boarding ladder, light fishing tackle, adult & children water skis, sailing dinghy, snorkel gear for twelve, one two-person kayak and sea scooters, plus scuba gear.
SCUBA gear – Complimentary unlimited diving with gear for up to four guests excluding wet suits which can be rented locally and complimentary padi dive tuition are included in the fee. Resort courses and referral certification is included in the fee. This means guests may dive from the ship, needing no prior dive experience, and it’s included in the charter fee. Stefan dives with guests and trains in scuba safety. He is a dive instructor.
Fly bridge – Altesse’s fly bridge is unusual in that it offers dining table, BBQ, and has a multi-purpose double sunbathing bed. Usually we don’t see fly bridges with dining tables, yet ALTESSE does offer this.
