Description:

One of our favorite yachts in the Virgin Islands is BRAVEHEART, an excellent, 1999-built, 58’ Simonis catamaran that sleeps 9, operated by American and British owner operators Jerry and Dawn Blair, who have over 9 years of experience, and they are so much fun! On a St. Patricks day charter once, Dawn made Green Eggs and Ham Benedict for the children. Here is a photo:

Jerry and Dawn both like scuba diving and offer diving to experienced divers and novices alike. Dawn filmed a fabulous video of a friendly dolphin that visited them while diving recently…. According to Jerry, dolphins do this on about 40% of the charters in the Virgin Islands now….  Here is Dawn’s video…  Dawn says, “This awesome dolphin dove with us for over half an hour whilst we were snorkeling and scuba diving. You can hear the dolphin make noises and even try to speak to us several times. We really connected with this incredible animal in the wild.”

Jerry knows all about the life of sea creatures. He tells a wonderful story about the invasive lionfish:   “If left unchecked the lionfish will destroy our entire coral reef marine ecosystem, because of their voracious appetites, fast growth, and exponential reproductive rates, combined with the fact that they have NO natural predators except man. One saving grace is that Lionfish are delicious to eat….”  Jerry and Dawn have fish identification charts that they take snorkeling with them.. The fish have names like Long Jaw Squirrel Fish, Jacks, Sargent Majors, and Yellow Tail Snapper….  Here’s a photo of an invasive Lionfish:

Somewhere in the Virgin Islands there’s a place where you can snorkel and find an 18th Century canon lying amongst the coral in the shallow water. The crew of an 18th century frigate ship, harking back to the days of triangle trade, must have thrown it overboard and there it has sat for two hundred years to this very day. I don’t know where it is located in the Virgin Islands, but I bet Jerry will know!

BRAVEHEART has 4 equal private Queen cabins plus one single berth in a passageway for nine guests.  Each stateroom is air conditioned, and each has television with streamed movies from a central media server.  We like that there is no dining table in the saloon on BRAVEHEART, as it creates more seating when you don’t have to squeeze behind a dining table.  Braveheart’s galley is also below in one of the pontoons, and that helps create more seating in the saloon too. The cockpit dining table seats nine.  There are hot and cold deck showers on the swim platforms aft.  There’s a charcoal grill, generator, water maker, and ice maker. Hairdryers and products are supplied…

BRAVEHEART offers ‘the works’ when it comes to sports equipment: scuba diving, 15’ hard bottom inflatable dinghy with 60 hp outboard (seats 10), children’s and adult water skis, wake board, 2 towing tubes, 2 stand up paddle boards, 2 kayaks, 25 sets of snorkel gear, under water camera, fishing gear, and float mats. Scuba diving for novices and certified divers alike is included in the charter fee, complete with compressor – Jerry and Dawn are both dive instructors and dive with guests.

A few years ago, everybody was dancing ‘The Harlam Shake.” Jerry and Dawn decided to dance the Shake under the water and film it. Here is their take.  It’s a good one:

Jerry and Dawn love making videos…. All of them are so original.  Here is a video of their ‘Glow Stick Party.’
