Description:

ODYSSEUS – 50’ Bavaria mono hull sloop with teak decks, aft cockpit with Bimini sailing awning and delicious smells of cinnamon rolls floating up from the galley!  Guests are well taken care of by the yacht’s darling Uruguayan/Australian captain and crew, Diego and Valerie, both of whom are dive masters and have ten years sailing experience in the Caribbean.

Given this yacht’s five stateroom layout (one would be for the crew and they share one of the three heads aboard), this yacht has an excellent layout for families of five, as each child can have their own cabin.  Or it’s comfortable for three couples, as the forepeak double berth, together with the two larger doubles aft offer double beds for three couples.  Diego and Valerie are flexible which cabin they take. Because of the size of the vessel – 50 feet – the yacht is best for six guests, even though there are berths for eight…

And what a beautiful teak interior!  Diego and Valerie, who are as nice as they can be, tell me the owners of the yacht just like to come down to the Caribbean “to sit and sail…..”  This couple is genuine.  They have a good marriage.  They’re kindly, wholesome and knowledgeable, pleasant to be with.

The yacht offers out of door dining.

The yacht is suitable for divers also.  Diving is offered.  Guests rent gear, as that way, “it’s guaranteed that the equipment will be in good condition for guests,” says Valerie.  Guests pay the dive shops directly approximately $100 to rent tanks and BCs for the week, but both Diego and Valerie are dive masters and dive with guests.  Diving is allowed from the ship, and the yacht does carry snorkel gear, and it has two stand up paddle boards that convert to kayaks.

The yacht is suitably equipped.  Surprisingly, she is fully air conditioned and has a small generator and watermaker aboard.  Built in 2000, she was refitted in 2017 and carries a saloon TV and stereo, ipod hookups, hammock, windscoops, and BBQ.  Valerie handles special diets.

Since Diego and Valerie are going for the sailing, they love the Spanish Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands, combined….  “But there are other options, such as St. Croix, where the snorkeling is delightful,” in addition to the BVI….  Although based in St. Thomas, they will be spending August and September in the Grenadine islands, based out of St. Vincent and welcome any guests who would like to cruise that blue be speckled area between the volcanoes…..  They might even entertain a cruise from French island to British island going down the island chain from Antigua to St. Lucia, my favorite….

ODYSSEUS charters for $10,000 to $12,000 a week all inclusive (rates slide according to number in party) year round from St.Thomas, except Christmas is sold at a premium of 10% more and New Years for 15% more.  Rates include food, fuel, bar, and dockage but not gratuity.

Water Toys – 13’ tender with 25 hp outboard seats 8, snorkel gear, tube, two stand up paddle boards that convert to kayaks, underwater still camera and video camera.
