Seasoned sailors, the new owners of the 170’ Alloy ketch Q stripped the wood floors down to bare wood in the saloon, centralized the seating with table lamps, and added an amazing iPad-controlled coffee machine.
The yacht sails beautifully. She has a comfortable cockpit aft, a flybridge with bimini amidships, and jet Jacuzzi on the foredeck, built into the flush teak deck with sun beds all around. Dolphins often swim with the boat.
The flybridge sports comfortable seating, coffee table, canvas awnings, and two steering wheels. All goes quiet when the captain turns off the engine and unfurls the sails.
Enjoy your choice of outside seating. Watch the sails from the yacht’s upstairs lounge, or get out of the wind in the yacht’s cockpit with retractable windows that regulate the temperature.
Q’s jet Jacuzzi on the foredeck fills in 30 minutes. At night, the crew create a romantic ambiance around it, by turning on the music outside, bringing candles around, and everybody enjoys the stars.
Large, square portholes in each of Q’s five guest cabins dip under the water at sea, and a soft, white, leather-covered stairway leads guests up to the main deck. Blue, glass, spiral, fish art hang on strategic walls throughout the ship. Child-friendly, each of the yacht’s five guest cabins feature onyx bathroom sinks, hammered chrome bathrooms, modern art couches, and turn-down light settings. The master stateroom has a King-size bed; the four guest cabins each have Queens.
Captain Colin Johnson heads up a stellar crew of nine and sails the Caribbean and West Mediterranean during 2017.
