Description:

RUMBA – Meet the crew Kevin and Taylor aboard this amazing 52’ Lagoon catamaran with comfortable accommodations for up to ten guests, although four couples or families of seven are best.  Kevin says, “Two cabins are aft, accessed from the cockpit with Queens; one has a hatch leading to the water for that pre-breakfast swim.  The third stateroom is forward to starboard with queen, facing windows, so you can see out.  It’s mirrored in the fourth cabin to port; the fifth cabin has upper and lower single beds.  There are five bathrooms; we sleep amidships to starboard.”

Taylor the first mate does turn down service at night.  Lights are dimmed; she makes the beds again in the morning and decorates them with towel art, flowers, and chocolates on the pillow.  “We try,” Kevin says; we love what we do.”

Taylor had beautiful hors d’oeurves of homemade apple apricot pastry in the shape of a flower, plus a fruit platter in another shape, while we were aboard.  They had displayed the yacht’s water toys nicely for us to see.  They offer their guests activities every day.

The bow seating has four bean bags, couch and awning.  Their fly bridge, filled in entirely with mattresses, has back rests that move up to a 45 degree angle, facing forward or backward to meet the sun.”  Even their cockpit has a day bed plus bar and dining table.  Solar panels are aft.  It leads into a beautiful modern air conditioned saloon with varnished maple paneling, galley with island to port, lounge to starboard for indoor / outdoor living.

Tall, thin, and fit, Taylor said, “We take care of the earth.  We purchase locally made bar soap, refill bottles, and compost as well.”

Kevin said, “Taylor is good at not over shopping.  She keeps it simple and easy.  We use bees wrap reusable food wraps to store our food in.”

When asked what types of activities he offers to guests, Kevin said, “We can seek out animals.  Or treasure.  Or island tours. Or eighteenth century canon.  What we like is to hear from our guests.’

Available year round in St. Thomas for cruises through the US and British Virgin Islands, RUMBA charters for $20,000 to $24,000 weekly all-inclusive except gratuity for parties of two to ten (rates slide according to number in party).  Christmas and New Years are sold at premiums – specifically $26,000 weekly for up to ten guests for Christmas week and $30,000 weekly up to ten for New Year’s week, starting on or after December 27th.
