Description:
This oldie but golden, 57’ Lagoon catamaran from 2001 SOTERION has good bones. With water maker, individual air conditioning controls, and 110 electricity in each of her four Queen quest cabins, her amenities compete with the brand new 58’ catamarans coming off the assembly lines today, minus the fly bridge. Yet SOTERION is lighter and sails better than those modern motor sailors, and she has the space to accommodate eight guests in comfort. We have fond memories of SOTERION being the star of the show during the 90s, and the star of the charter fleet she always will be, because space and a successful charter layout never gets old….
Continually maintained, SOTERION’s galley is located below in the port hull, so the main saloon has more room for guests. The large dining table there seats eight comfortably, and the saloon opens up to a large teak cockpit with second dining table, seating eight, and it has sunbathing mattresses outboard of the settees as well. Steps lead down to the sugarscoops, where there are hot and cold deck showers on both transoms for use after swimming. These two entertainment areas are joined together by two sliding glass doors, creating an enormous area for eight guests and two crew, but there is an enormous amount of deck space forward as well, and guests typically use that area while sailing or for sunbathing or for watching the stars and sunset.
Your chef Rachel Haskovec has pursued her passion for food and entertaining, working with the Culinary Institute of Montana, eventually spending extensive time in Central America, where she founded Nicaragua Energetic Flow Yoga, working as a full time traveling instructor at 6 resorts in the southwest corner of Nicaragua. She also managed and cooked at a B&B guesthouse in the jungle outside San Juan del Sur. As an athlete and yogi, Rachel is adamant about using the freshest quality local ingredients to create healthy and delicious meals that feed the body and the soul. Your skipper Ben Raley is also not afraid of work. Originally from Maine, where he built a dinghy with his father at age 6 and started racing sailboats at age 8, at age 18 he made his way from Portsmouth, NH to Hawaii via the Caribbean islands and Panama Canal aboard various sailboats. He taught sailing in Puget Sound, worked on commercial fishing boats in Alaska, and earned his sailing trip back to New England by working on a tug boat hauling freight through Southeast Alaska. Focusing on tropical waters, he worked on two charter yachts in the Virgin Islands before joining SOTERION, which he is justifiably proud to be captain of, because she is indeed a fine yacht. As a couple Ben and Rachel offer a charming graciousness that helps people to feel comfortable and fully relaxed, and they work closely with every charter to match their guest’s level of interest with the right level of activity, dining, and relaxation.
SOTERION is a good interim yacht to consider between the 8-berth 48’ yachts and the larger, super deluxe modern 58’ yachts. Her space and amenities for eight guests is considered by many to be just right. SOTERION has been superbly maintained and refitted in 2009. She looks like new.
